A Few of My Favorite Things | #1

We’ve reached monsoon status on the East Coast.  Seriously, it’s been raining for days and my four-year-old has noticed that “there’s a little river running through our front yard.”  Thankfully we live at a higher elevation and we just experience a little mountain runoff, but no major flooding threats.

As the air cools and is filled wth signs of fall, I’m thinking of the rain clearing up and spending an evening cozied up by one of my very favorite things…  Bouncing around in pinball fashion (as woman’s brain often does), I’ve thought of a few additional “c” things that I absolutely love.

Campfires:  First up, the inspiration for this whole chain of thoughts… I love a good warm campfire on a cool night, with smores and all things cliche.  On the smore note – have you ever tried a Reese Cup in place of a Hershey bar?  AH-MA-ZING!

Cousins: When you grow up in a home as an only child, the closest people to you sort of become your siblings.  And its kind of great, because when you get tired of them, you can just send them home! (Ahem, Adrienne, when you pulled the heads off of my Spice Girl barbies!) 😉 Ha! Just kidding!  I was lucky to grow up with 5 special people who will always feel more like brothers and sisters to me.   I can’t seem to find a semi recent picture of the six of us, but here is our whole crazy family.

Color coded closets:  Rainbow order and grouped by sleeve length, please.  Makes getting dressed and putting away laundry 1000 times easier.  And who doesn’t love looking at a pretty closet?

Cupcakes: My #1 healthy diet weakness and the reason I gained an extra 10 pounds during my first pregnancy.  The perfect cake to icing ratio and just a few bites of yummy deliciousness.  Not too little, not too much, but just right (…I may have to play the role of Goldilocks too often in our home thanks to a certain 4 year old 🙂 ).
