I had the pleasure of photographing one unit of this large family a few years ago at Christmas time.  I was so excited to hear that the whole family wanted to get together for an extended family session.  Coming from a big family myself, I always enjoy seeing everyone come together to create an image that will be so treasured by the grandparents (and everyone else) for years to come.  I know just how special these images can be and love getting the opportunity to make them.

Since the family is spread across the state, we looked for a location that was a similar distance away from everyone.  I had my eye on Barboursville Vineyards and it was just the right spot!  This place is perfect!  Of course, it has the typical winery and vineyard feel with grape vines galore, but it also has nice open spaces with green tree backdrops, and the neatest part- the ruins of the old family manor on site!  While I didn’t get the chance to photograph the ruins, they were fun to explore!

These children range in age from preschooler to teenager, and let me tell you – they are a hoot!  I can imagine that holidays and vacations never have a dull moment with this family!

Their entire family is SO TALL!  Or maybe, I’m just vertically challenged…I had to stand on a ladder for almost every image! 🙂

I so enjoyed working with this sweet family!  Thanks to Barboursville Vineyards for allowing us to come here for this session.  It is a beautiful place that has made the short list for future date nights. 🙂
