[part of the Tuesday for Travel blog series – reviews, recommendations, and stories based on our travels and excursions]
Chris and I had to go to Cleveland, Ohio on business. While phrasing it that way makes me feel super important, if I explained Chris’ job and our business destination, you’d probably be bored to tears! 😉 Anyway, we made the most of this last minute less than 48 hour long trip, and I have SIX weeks worth of restaurants and destinations to share with you!
When we travel someplace new, we almost always use Trip Advisor to narrow down what we want to try out. We usually search something like “Best things to do in _______” or “Best Restaurants in ________”. We ALWAYS read multiple reviews and try to weed out reviews from personalities that are not like our own.
After searching for best things to do in Cleveland I was thrilled to see The Christmas Story House in the results! I don’t know about you, but I grew up watching The Christmas Story each year and have many fun memories of my huge extended family watching and quoting this movie together.
The original artifacts are stored in the museum across the street and the house has been completely recreated with replacement items. Since the items aren’t original, they aren’t very strict and allow you to roam each room and take photos as you wish. I was told that summer tours are much better because they aren’t so crowded. The tours near Christmas are packed and typically tour goers only get to quickly look into each space before they are ushered on. I was able to leisurely tour each room which was really great!
Here are some of the museum artifacts:
Outdoors, check out the original vehicles from the movie.
And The Christmas Story House itself:
And here’s what you’ve all been waiting for….
There’s also a rather large gift shop with leg lamps galore (and lots more)!
Did you grow up watching this movie? I love to hear from you! Comment below.

What a wonderful way to spend the day! This is such a cool museum! A Christmas Story was, and continues, to be my favorite movie of all time. I’d love to visit Cleveland just for this house!
If you are ever there, certainly check it out! I have a few more Cleveland recommendations in the coming weeks!

Oh my gosh! My brother-in-law would LOVE this. He’s the biggest fan of A Christmas Story. He has it on a loop at their house all day every Christmas Eve. What a fun attraction to visit!
So neat! He should definitely check this place out!
