[part of the Wednesday for Weddings blog series – wedding venue, vendor, decor, and idea suggestions]
This summer I decided that I needed to become more knowledgeable about the wedding venues in the Shenandoah Valley. I started my exploration right here in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg. I toured On Sunny Slope Farm and was instantly smitten. Who doesn’t love some great Shenandoah Valley mountain views? The owner, Harry, is incredibly accommodating and we connected over a shared desire to pull off a styled wedding shoot highlighting some new features of the venue in the full glory of a Virginia autumn.
Now, some wedding vendors might say that we were crazy and truly, we may have been! 🙂 October is an incredibly busy wedding season in our area and for great reason! Peak fall color changes amaze me year after year and I knew that I needed this Simplistic Rustic Wedding Shoot to accentuate that beauty.
The Bridal Suite at On Sunny Slope Farm is to die for! Ample light, open floor space, antique furniture and mirrors make for lovely bridal preparation photos before a wedding ceremony.
These bridal accessories by White Dress by Greta Kay and matching bridal bouquet and groom’s boutonniere by The Faded Poppy gorgeously adorn the antique vanity.

The Chapel is decorated by Renee of RCK Weddings & Designs with florals by The Faded Poppy.
This simple outlining decor allows the beauty of the Chapel frame and surrounding pastures to shine through!
Sara from The Faded Poppy combined blue thistle with end of season hydrangeas cut directly from Sunny Slope gardens to create a stunning simple rustic bridal bouquet.
The evening glow at On Sunny Slope is amazing.
Our gorgeous bridal model, Christina, wore Greta Kay’s “Priscilla” gown to perfection! Sara from The Faded Poppy selected her signature ribbon bow to precisely match the gown.
Those eyes! Christina’s flawless makeup emphasized her beautiful features thanks to Makeup by Elizabeth.
I’m in love with this veil by White Dress by Greta Kay.
Look at this barn with a view! Perfect for small events and rehearsal dinners!
The barn houses the bride and groom dressing suites and restrooms.
Sunny Slope first caught my eye when I heard about their Glamping Tent. How amazing is this view? Spend your wedding night in a unique setting without even needing to leave the farm!
The tent is accented in beautiful blues matching the skies-for-days surrounding view!
The perfect cozy, romantic spot to get back to the basics with the one you love most. No distractions from loud traffic, electronics, or noisy hotel neighbors.
Housed within the frame of the multipurpose Chapel structure, the Glamping tent’s front porch is the perfect place to enjoy an evening sunset.
Transform the Glamping Tent into a spa for luxurious pampering for 1 or 2. Massage therapy surrounded by nature’s beauty is a perfect combination! Perfect for the bride and her mother before the wedding, or the bride and groom on their first day as newlyweds.
After a relaxing night in the tent, enjoy the scenery with a picnic lunch at On Sunny Slope Farm.
This picnic basket was created the lovely gift curator, Brittney of Southern Grown Vintage.
I’m so thankful to each of the vendors who took time out of their busy fall schedule to pitch in with the shoot. I doubted for a little bit that I would be able to find vendors for such a overwhelming season, but feel blessed to say that a dream team of amazing individuals came together to pull the shoot off without a hitch.
